Is my anemone dead?

My LTA has been doing great since I got it. However today I cleaned the powerheads out and suddenly the anemone decided it wanted to move again. When I came home it was sucked up against the powerhead's intake screen. The tenticles were so wrapped up in the powerhead that some of them tore when I tried to get it out of the powerhead. Also the bottom foot ruptured. I put it back in its spot in the tank. Dangit.

It is shriveled up now but the coloration is the same as it was, nice golden brownish color. What should I do?
My clownfish may have no home, no friend... Im a murderer...

Well, thats called major damage when you tear the foot. Not much chance of it surviving. If you want to wait and see what happens then you will have to watch it very carefully over the next 24 hours. Start a fresh water change now so that it is ready if something bad happens. Put a load of fresh carbon in now to absorb any harmful toxins that may be released by the anemone.
Watch the other corals for signs of stress from this event.
Or you can get rid of it now.
Sorry to hear it Sly.

Well I called the LFS and I'm going to take his advice. He said that he's had that happened to him before and when he woke up the next morning his tank looked like swamp water. I don't want to take that chance. I might hurt Gra...:nervous:
So I took it out and now I'm off to get a new one. Right now my clownie is swimming all around the tank looking like she's lost. :nope:
Hang in there little buddy....

Ok, I got a new anemone. It's also a LTA. This one's bigger than the last. Looks cool. I also got a second perc while I was at it. The new clown fish looks just like the other one that I have. I have them acclimating now. It's real neet watching the clownie that I have in the tank. She's swimming right around the bag that has her new husband in. I hope they like each other.
Gra is real curious. He's my panther grouper. He's swimming all around checking everything out. I have a new tank for him. He's going in his new home in another week or two. It depends on how much longer this new tank takes to cycle.
Feeling better now...

I just put my new anemone and clownie in the tank. My clowns look like their in love...:happyfish The are swimming around together. As soon as my old clown saw the new anemone, she immediately went over there and started swimming in it like the old one. My new clown "Milo" is also swimming near the anemone. It touches the tenticles some but acts like it's startled when it does. I'll post some new pics of my family as soon as I get to it.

Ya see?? Ya see how those poor pitiful clowns force you to keep an anemone?? I started off with a Sebae (big dummy me) with WAY to low of lighting, and when it died my poor little clown looked so lost. So I researched this time around and got a BTA. If it started to go downhill I was gonna donate the anemone AND fish to a better hobbiest. I couldn't let that poor clown go on..."

Sorry to hear about your other anemone, but I did sigh with relief when I saw that you got another for your fish. Good luck and I would seriously invest in some of those PH filters, they worked WONDERS for me!!

Yes I know what you mean about those poor clownies. They need... so much...
She looked lost without her anemone friend. Just bobbing up and down swimming around the tank. :(
The anemone was kind of shriveled up this morning but after a few hours, it opened up real nice. I fed it some shrimp. My clowns had a few disagreements for awhile, but they look like they are settling down some. One of them has adopted the new anemone and the other one swims just a few inches away, sometimes getting chased away. It eventually comes back and they rub fins and swim together for awhile.
I have plastic guards on my powerheads. Some people call them baby savers. The anemone's tentacles were in the guard and the main part of the guard was in its mouth. I could not separate them. The anemone ripped in the process. I felt so bad. I don't think there was anything I could do. I took all its life out of the tank before it could cause any damage and threw it out in the pasture behind my house.
I had a vision of it somehow surviving in all this rain we're having from the hurricane, and growing up in the cow fields of Tennessee to come kick my butt. :) I can imagine it now, "Cow eaten alive by giant saltwater anemone!" :D
