My anenome is a Florida Condi. I have an 45 gallon tank with 80 watts of light. I keep the lights on 10 hours a day. The anenome only shrinks down when the lights are off. It looks like it's back to normal when the lights are back on. It is fed regularly by my clown fish. And yes, I am fairly new at this.

It's been my experience that 80 watts of normal output lighting will NOT keep any anemone alive. I would consider purchasing new lighting, and nothing with normal output lights.

It should be in JPEG or JPG format and not larger than 500x500 pixels

I don't know how to change the format. It's frustrating me. Anyway, it only shrinks up when the lights are off. As soon as they come back on, it's awesome again.

hotlegs, you should upgrade your lights soon. you should be having at least 4-6 watts per gallon. so for your 45 gal tank you should have aboout 180 watts or more.

see if you can get some mh's. also, how long have you had your tank up and running for. anemones need a lot of care and a pretty stable tank. from what i have been told is that it should be stable for at least 3-6 months prior to bringing in an anemone. unless the florida condi's are pretty easy to care for.

I've had my tank for about a year now and just got the anenome maybe 2 months ago. My clown loves it. I'm still trying to figure out how I can put the picture of it on here. Hopefully I can change the file type.

Just my 2 cents on "stable" tank. I agree with the stable tank advice. However, a lot of people (including myself in the past) dont necessarily understand what that implies. Usually people assume that if you have had a tank for 1 year then its automatically stable. This is not totally true. Stability implies that the water parameters are established to the norms and stay there. For example, even after a year, a tank could suffer from fluctuating pH, alkalinity, Ca, salinity, etc. These also need to be tested regularly and any deviations corrected gradually. In the past I have on too many ocassions been neglient about testing and then made drastic corrections when detected. Which is why I am seriously thinking of investing in a calcium reactor so that water conditions are better maintained.
