Is my calcium TOO high

I have a 75 which I have been converting to a reef I was just wandering if anyone could tell me if my calcium is too high or ALK is too low I always hear is your calcium too high your alk is too low. Here are my tank parameters.
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-10
ph-8.4
calcium-500
alk-3.21
S.G-1.025
I don't use any additives I just do regular water changes. I was just wandering if calcium at 500 was pushing it, and if so what I should do.

I can't help you with this one directly - I use myricle mud and just get my water checked at the LFS once a month (so far so good, 7 months running).
But, there is a very good article if I remember under the sticky on this forum on calcium, alk, and pH. It explains the relationship between the three - you might find some help there.

I've always heard that anywhere from 450-500 is fine, not typical but not harmful. However i would bring your ph down to 8.2, this could help bring your calcium down and 8.2 is much better for your reef. Good Luck

All those levels are OK " if " your reading the alk. in meg/L. If your reading in dkH then its way low.

I have the same type problem. My calcium is 500, my ak test says 180, and my ph is 7.8. Is this alright and how do you lower calcium?
