Is my Huma OK??

I just got home around midnight and turned on the light in the living room so I could take a peek at my tank. Well, my little huma which is usually in some hole in my liverock by this time, was swimming aimlessly around the top of the tank. I'm hoping he was just startled but I can't help but be concerned. Has anyone else noticed weird behavior from triggers in the middle of the night?

it is defintely not a good idea, to turn on the lights while they are sleeping, well i guess you could compare what you huma was doing to what we all do, "a midnight snack" per say, he probably got board and wanted to do somthing, my clown did this once rite before i was about to go to my girlfriends, so i didnt go , but thats another story ;)(she understood) i wouldn't say it is normal, but it isnt odd, what are you water levels? whats is the size of your tank? what are its tank mates?

I have my trigger tank right next to my desk. I'm a college student so naturally I'm procrastinating and typing up reports till 4 in the morning. Anyways, I get to experience my tank at night as well (I've hooked up red LED's that I can switch on at night. Enough to see what's going on but doesn't effect the photoperiod :D) The triggers are active on and off at night. Most of time they are nusseled into some rock. What is really cool are the crabs at night -- they go NUTS!

Robby, you have crabs in with your triggers? If so what kind and have you had any problems? I would love to get some crabs in my tank.

Sure do! I orderd the BIG 20 + from here, SWF. It comes with 20 Blue Leg Hermit, 20 Scarlet Hermits, 20 Turbo Snails and two Emerald Crabs. From that 'gourmet lunch' there are about 2 snails left, 10 scarlet hermits, and 18 blue leg hermits. That was ordered last month. Also I picked up a strawberry crab from the LFS and she is just the funniest to watch!

Robby, what is your salinity at? Do the crabs try and hide during the day? I have lots of little crevases in my live rock that they could hide in for cover from my two triggers. Man, that sounds so cool, as soon as I send in a payment on my credit card, I'm gonna order the same package you did. Thanks again.

Salinty is avg. 1.23 or so. They don't 'hide' during the day, but they go NUTS at night...running all around, lifting up things, sifting throught the sand, scavaging for left over food, running everywhere, yes running!
