Is my Ricordea splitting?

does the actual cap split? or does it form a new stalk at the bottom?

The cap splits. I can't tell if yours is going to or not. Mine frequently look like they are going to, but then all it ends up doing is adding an extra mouth, without actually separating.

usually, a second mouth will form, and then the mouths will slowly move apart. eventually the ricordea will be more figure eight shaped, than round, and finally, the two pieces will pinch off and form 2 separate colonies.
here is a photo a friend got of one of his as it was splitting off. if yours starts to do this, then yep, it is splitting.

And here is one of mine, a couple weeks away from hitting the stage his is at. You can see the lighter perimeter tentacles are starting to pinch in to fill the gap between the yellow mouths. A third mouth is developing on it, but as you can see in the other two in the picture, mouths dont always separate.

i really dont know much about shrooms but is that really a ricordea??? or is it just hard to tell from the pic???

yeah it is, the bubbles on it havent quite grown out yet.
