is my sump too small?

I have a 120g tank and a sump that is probably 20g. I also get a lot of return bubble back to the tank from the sump. I have put up temporary baffles to see what works best, then I will silicone them in place.
I can't seem to get the baffles right so there are no return bubblres. I've been working on my bubble problem for 6 days and nothing is working. any suggestion is greatly appreciated
thanks

I too have bubbles from my PS and the return pump pulling air from the surface.
I've greatly reduced the bubbles by placing the skimmer further from the return pump and making sure the foam filter I have is fully filling the space. Do you have a foam filter in the baffle to trap the bubbles?

Go to your LFS and buy a filter sponge. They are usually white. Rig the sponge up somehow so that the water has to pass through the sponge before it gets to the return pump. Also make sure that the sponge is sticking out of the water. Bubbles will not pas through a sponge. They get trapped inside and then work there way to the top.

I assume the water level is high enough so the pump is not sucking in air from the surface? I also have a 120g tank with a small 16g sump. Its been like that well over 2 years with no bubbles & no problems. Its only when the water level is low will it send bubbles to the tank.

I do have a filter sponge. Perhaps it is too low in the water. I'll check on that.
The water level is not the main problem since it varies and when it does get too low I can correct it. Right now the PS is producing a lot of wet foam and this, coupled with evaporation are hard to keep up with. The PS will settle down as the new LR stabilizes so I don't think I'll have long-term problems with the water level. I'm also planning on building a DIY auto top-off anyway.
