Is the 29 bio cube a favorite?

I see alot of people with them, and i was wondering if its a good way to go.
I finally got my dad on board into this hobby and he expressed a desire to do a nano tank.
He saw a nice 35 gallon display in the store and he took intrest in it, he said 30gallons is about right for him.
He liked the whole self contained system...but it was $1700.
Are these bio cubes a bang for the buck system?
Or would you have something else to recommend in the 25-35 gallon range.

well to me i really love the bio cube. i have the 29g. the space is amazing! for my filter i have chaeto in the back with mangrove growing to control my trates. this tank is amazing! the lights that come with it are great for LPS and softies. i have a 175w 20k Metal Halide bulb in mine for SPS. one thing you will have to do is upgrade the return pump to a maxi-jet 1200 if you want. but everything is perfect with it! i love it alot!

the biocube is a great starter tank and for pro's with 1 mod if u have the money to put those halides in. but i love the tank, my first tank and by far the best choice i have found. but others might say differ, but i think its a good price and a great tank. for the pump mine is stock works good for me, but anything is upgradeable. check out mine

I love my BC29 too and I did the fudge as well but if I was going to spend 1700 id get the new red sea max 250 (free shipping on a site) and get 66 and a great quality build! (from what i'm told, I want that tank sooo baaad

)
However the BC29 is a great all in one that is very easy to mod and the stock components are great for newbies like me to get a 'jumpstart' of sorts with less teeth grinding.

i would have to disagree, i like the long shallow tanks, i had a 20L then updated to a 40L and love them both.

Isn't a maxijet a power head and not a return pump?
I'm a little confused.

What is the differance beetween the 29gal nano, and the oceanic 29gal nano?All I saw on the website was a $50 difference, but didnt tell more than that.
