Is my tank too small thread is all FUBAR, so I have continued with this thread.
Why nix the tang? Is it just a PITA fish, or will it croak?

Tangs are like fish on adrenaline--they just have to go- go - go. When they don't have the space to go - go - go they stress and get ich and other illnesses which they pass on to your other fish. These illnesses can't be treated in your main tank, because the treatment will mess up the bacterial balance there, so here come the hospital tanks. The illnesses, treatments, and hospital tank (minimum 1 month) just add to the fish's stress and then where are you going to put it? Right back into the tank that was too small to start with which caused the stress which initiated the illness.
To put it on a personal level, how would you like to live in a 6 foot square closet with a family of 5 for 24/7/365?
