is there a real need for aa refugium?

Thanks for the comments on the tank, I'll send more pic's when it matures. The question I have is many aquarists have a refugium and some don't, is this very beneficial to the show tank? and if so do you set up another tank for it besides the sump?

Well, it is all in what you would want to do. A refugium does have some benefits in alot of cases. From nitrate removal to pod propagation. To say it is necesary would not be a correct statment.
Most I have seen have made their refugium in their sump. Some in another tank. You can do it eithier way.
I also notice you are in Greensboro. I live in Danville. Maybe sometime we can go LFS hunting. I frequent the stores down there. Any in Winston? Never seen any there...

Thats usually where I go. They do know a thing or two for sure. They have an awsome 180 reef!!
