Is there something wrong with my oce???

if you look closely there is a small black spot on the back half of my clown right in the middle of his side. it just appeared a couple days ago and i have no idea what it is. should i be treating him? is this a disease? is it treatable? should i worry?

My clowns had this when they were only a few months old. It went away on it's own and they're fine now. They just had their first birthday the other day. LOL
That being said, it could be something worse, so I hope other people chime in as well.

I too have a couple of clowns that have these same black spots. For the past few days I have been researching and have come to the conclusion the spots are likely the results of a coral stinging the fish. Do you have any Euphyllia (frogspawn, hammer, torch, etc)? I have seen many posts about other people's clowns with black spots when they are stung by euphyllia. The spots are just excess pigmentation that form when they are stung (sort of like a mole I guess)... You might want to read up on black ich too though. However, what I have read said that black ich looks like many tiny dots, about the size of a pin head. Hope this helps.

Could possibly be a small scrape from rocks. I have noticed this recently on several of my tangs. It appears, looking like some disease, then starts healing and goes away. Upon observation, I noticed that during feeding, some of them were making some really aggressive moves around the rocks, and sideswiping the rocks sometimes.

i do have a couple hammers and during feeding my lil oce's really dart around the tank. i posted a thread in the fish desease section of the forum and have gotten some good answers there. thx for the help tho i think boucherh hit the nail on the head. i am still curious to know if this will heal like a scab and the skin will come back through or if he will have this little freckle permanantly?
