Someone listed this for $575

Im selling my 150g AGA aquarium w/ dual built in overflows, stand and 30g oceanic sump. Im also including the iwaki 40rxlt return pump, ASG II protein skimmer and 100 lbs of base rock (fiji primium and tonga branch). This is a great deal and its ready to be picked up. I need to sell before winter comes to get it out of the garage so I can save my car from the snow.

I fixed your post for you because it is against SWF rules to post links to online selling websites.
With that said, it is a great deal. Jump all over that if you have the money for it.

i agree. its sounds to be a great deal.
but a problem with buying live rock is that you do not know what the past owner has dosed copper based medications in the tank and the copper can leach out the copper over time.

Thanks for fixing the post. I think I might jump on it, maybe I should buy new live rock just to be safe?

youi dont need to buy all new live rock, use the rock he has for base rock, then buy bout 50lbs of cured live rock, and you will be golden, the new live rock will seed the base rock, and it will come back alive

i agree. you will need to buy at the vary least 50 pounds of live rock. the more rock you put in there the better. a lot of people say to have one pound of rock per gallon, but i always go with at least 1 1/2 to 2 pounds per gallon.

A copper test kit will let you know if copper is leeching back in.
I think it is a great deal. After it is cycled add inverts a few at a time. If you go reef with this, add cheaper corals first. You will know if copper is being leeched.

I dunno IMO if someone is using those components and has a RR tank, chances are they're probably smart enough to not hit it with copper.

I just comfirmed with the buyer that he only used RO water. What else would I need to add? I'd obviously need lights?

idk i found a better deal around my area. 180 gal drilled dual over flows, 400w metal halides, 55 gal sump, stand canopy, all for 700. all you need is LR, sand, and a protein skimmer! you are going to end up spending a lot more on lights when the time comes, unless seller is giving you lights! if so, jump on that!

the glass tank alone would cost in the neighborhood of 600 bucks. the rock is 2 dollars a pound.
the G2 skimmer is about 250.
200 for the iwaki pump.
oceanic sumps are expensive. atleast a couple hundred.
people give stuff away for free sometimes too, but that does not mean this is not a good deal.
i would buy it if i was looking for a reef tank.

I'm still debating whether to buy this set up or not. How much would cost to get everthing else to get this started, including sand, powerheads, other equipment, mh lighting?
