Is this a good heater for my 95 gallon tank?

actually, from all the forum posts Ive read on here the marineland heaters are having by far the most problems hands down. Several of our posters have recently had thier tanks crash completely due to marineland heater failure.
Eheim has been getting all the credit in the otehr similar threads.
I have a Catalina titanium 500w heater with a 250w eheim as a back up

uh oh... :( i heard the stealth ones were having problems didn't here anything negative about this one

The heater I had problems with was so old I don't really remember the brand..I THINK it was Stealth. It didn't go bad for 10 years. Shame on me for keeping and using a heater for that long without replacing it, when something lasts that long , it’s wrong to label it a bad thing to not purchase.
I think the heater you selected will be fine for a long time. I use a 300W in my 90g so it should be fine for a 95g. I did go for a titanium replacement for my heater, but I think the submersible plastic will do fine, I wouldn’t use a glass heater in a saltwater tank.

i just lost over $ 1700 worth of livestock, fish and coral in my reef tank due to a marineland heater, yes it was a stealth, but its the same company.. i despise them for this and will never buy a marineland product again.

I don't blame you not one bit...but isn't it a very unusual occurrence? I have never heard of it happening to anyone before. I have heard of heaters going bad, but not new ones right out of the box.

i have had several probs with heaters in the past.... Get a temp controller............. ranco makes a great one. http://www.etcsupply.com/ranco-etc11...vdc-p-200.html
Buy 2 heaters. i have 2 - 250w in my 92 gallon corner. They both run thru temp conroller. If the thermpostat sticks on one of them it shuts it off. Its extra cash but, its cheaper than restocking a whole tank. Can you afford not too?

mine lasted 3 weeks before the malfunction. a plastic stealth heater cracked...

i have heard the titanium ones are great, but have also heard a story or 2 of them going nuts. as mentioned above the cost of a expensive heater is nothing compared to a restock..
2 heaters seems like one more heater for something to go wrong.. jmo

that would be a bad deal if my 500w titanium decided to stick on, that thing gets really hot

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they make some type of device with a temp probe that you can plug your heaters into and if the temp in the tank gets to high it cuts the power to the heaters?

Yes, there is...but that would not have helped me...my heater broke. The cap part separated from the bottom, and electrocuted my tank. I had GFCI outlets so I didn’t suffer a total loss, but I still lost about $1500.00 in coral and inverts..I lost no fish.
