I think JBJ comes with fans. Similar sets elsewhere on the net about the same or less. This set on ---- is not a good price to me personally, but.... I looked at the item and I think I know the seller :D LFS owner 2 mile away from me, a JBJ distributor. :(

Scott270, correct me if i am wrong, are you looking for a lighting system (fixture) that just sits on top of your 75g glass tank? I apologize for early post about the price on ----, i didn't realize it's a fixture, thought is a retro unit. but again i think most item on ---- starts low $, this guy starts high. But after i did some search, that system isn't too bad for a fixture, i personally prefer custom sealife.
i hope it's not against swf.com rule, but Jalli makes some economical pc fixture, i found it, item# lt-JLCFS55W48 at customaquatic.com at a good price too. Also if you are not in hurry to upgrade light, ---- has a seller tbbygirls often sell great reef products, she just sold a few ice cap ballast for vho, and currently selling 4 new vho now at $15. again hope i aint violating any rule. Good luck in finding your light.

scott, if you want vho and you don't want a retro fit - (which only comes with lights and wire, you must make a hood to hold it) - then i think you will pay about $100 more than pc fixture. search around, most will tell you VHO with Ice cap ballast, one of best. But then if you don't mind goto Home depot and chopped some wood to hold a retro, make your hood - as mentioned, often ---- have great prices on ice cap ballast and good vho prices. ask that seller, she may have more.
I was in same situation last year like you. I wanted a VHO retro but my hood is exactly 36", vho bulbs don't fit. As for yours, most 48" VHO fixture ends up total of 49" long. Good luck.

what is the ice cap ballast thanks for your help im just so new to this, would you say that vho is better than that jbj kit are there any vho kits that come in a hood so it could sit on my tank

championlighting.com sells vho fixture with ice cap. i think you need to search various supply sources b4 making decision. most say vho has better blue than power compact - personal preference. i like mine pc blue, but of course, i never seen how vho's look like, also depends what you going to keep. from what i read from another thread of what you want to keep, both vho or pc should do.

you are just like me, i remember i spent 3 nights time searching about lighting a year ago and no sleep. VHO is beyond my knowledge but many experts at this site have mentioned "no lights is too bright for the reef tank." I think 4 bulbs, 2 blue 2 white sound good, as long you get the higher capacity ice cap, always upgradable, but you should ask VHO users.

what do you think of this
the icecap vho abs hood wit 2 or 4 bulbsweb page

I think Champion lighing is a bit expensive.
I'm a DIY type of person. I would consider retrofit kit and get some ply wood make a canopy.
Good luck

Your earlier post mention you wanted to keep anemone's and some hard corals. You better get more lighting than 220w in a 75. that not going to cut it for what you want to keep. I would suggest you go with a combo of VHO and MH or PC and MH. Just my .02 worth as I would hate to have you purchase and expensive fixture and then realize you can't keep what you want because you don't have enough light.

yes i do want brains, bubble, anemones, so this would not be enough light. I just want something that will fit on my glass tops that will be enough light what about 4 vho 440 watts total 2 actinic and 2 10000k would that be good

I would definately go for the 4 vhos over the 2, that is if you are going to only run vhos. If in the future you wanted to add halides then I would go with the 2 vhos and this will allow enough room on your 75 to add one or two halides in the future. Just food for thought.
