Is this a Problem with my redcap

I got a redcap frag from a local reefer, but this has grown on it.

Is this something I should be worried about?

algae is growing on it. Not good. What kind of flow do you have pointing at it. I would try to remove the algae or frag the good part of what's left.

its a red hair algae or some other similar type. Honestly, I wouldnt worry about it too much. The algae is growing on a dead part of the monti, so if you can remove it, good. Just so long as it doesnt get any larger, it wont affect the monti, just look better if you can pick it off. The monti will grow around it.

I got some finger nail clippers and clipped off the hair algea.

Gracilaria, me thinks. You might want to take a small toothbrush to that area. Keep it clean of algae until the Montipora recolonizes that area.
