I have some sort of algae growing off the lip of my filter. I just wanted to make sure that it isn't harming my tank - either by spreading elsewhere, or sucking nutrients that my tank might need.
Hair algae. A nuisance algae. Not harmful as much as unsightly. What source of water are you using? Do you feed heavily? Test for phosphates?
It can spread, and make a tank look like crap. Try to determine the cause of the problem.
