Blue damsel is 'thrusting' itself against the subtrate, flipping cc all over, tried to see if he has white spots but he moves too fast. Thinking I should put him in the hospital tank. Any opinions? Thanks in advance.

My clowns often like to thrash around in the sand. They don't have ich, but it's just one of their behavioral quirks. :)

I had an ich outbreak in my first tank about 6months ago. I lost all but three damsels. In fact, I still have those three damsels. they never showed signs of sickness.
LFS said most damsels are immune to ich. I believe it to be true.
Maybe it's just rearranging the surroundings?

T he clowns do this too, but then they sleep where they 'dig' their little 'hole'. This guy is a dorky damsel, so he probably is doing the same...but if I can catch him....lol...I think I'll put him in the hospital tank just in case, don't want my two expensive fish to get it. The rest of the damsels........heck, never catch those dorky fish unless I rip down everything and go to about 1 inch of water. Nascar fish........lol!
Thanks!

I have 2 fish out of 6 that scratch on the sand. They have been doing it for at least 4 months, but no sign of anything wrong with them. I think they just do it to act tough around the other fish I guess.

Does he have spots? Damsels do dig. They will not necessarily sleep in the spot they dig its more to shape their territory than anything.....
I wouldn't bother removing him untill you see spots. Reason why is that if he has ich then your whole tank has it and all fish will need to be treated regardless of their condition.

I saw a couple of tiny spots..not sure if it was ich but I removed him anyway, rather than take chances. Another time I had a fish with ich and got him out right when I noticed and the rest of the fish never got it.....????? I dunno. He's being treated, and in the process I got the two mean damsels out and put them in 'fish jail'. My house is starting to look like a flippin pet store according to my husband...lol. Not sure what I'll do with the meany's...probably give them away or trade them for....like...a whole 50 cents credit...lol. who cares, they are MEAN.

You had a breakout out not too long ago correct.
How long ago was it?
It takes atleast a month for the parasite to die off with no fish in the tank.
A uv would reduce the parasites, but i think stress and water quality play a major part in preventing ich.

I had a fish with ich the first part of december. Really haven't had too many problems with it....but now that I've said that........just watch, I will. lol! He seems fine....happy in the hospital tank, eating...etc. Will return him later, after I run the 'just in case' treatment.
You might be thinking of another time when I added copper to my tank...........DUMB DUMB DUMB.........but that wasn't ich...it was something else, I forget what.......killed everything, and what it didn't the high nitrites and copper did. How nice ha? DUMB DUMB DUMB. The fish probably is fine, but I just didn't wanna take any chances....he's such an expensive fish, and so sweet and good natured...blue damsel.........lol. "Nasty Boy" Na, just didn't see a reason to let him suffer or anyfish else....:joy:
