Is this normal?

My Anemone deflates himself at night and gets very very tight and small.
However when the lights are on, he fills up and gets REALLY big.
When feeding, do i need to put the food down INTO the mouth area or just let him grab it and do the work? He also holds the food for a LONG time before eating it? I feed him fresh shrimp, any ideas?

It is normal for him to deflate for a while. Eventually he will probably stay out all of the time. When I feed mine I just squirt the food at him with a baster or let him grab a piece of silverside with a tentacle. He will pull the food in himself. Hope this helps.
