Hey guys this is my Sebae Anemone, it is about couple of months since i got it from the lfs, it was white and small when i got it, now it's really dark, brownish greenish a little purple tip.
However whenever it doesn't eat it is wide open and looks like a plate, all the tenticles are on the sides and the one in the middle are small....
why is that?
i attached some pictures:

Sebae Anemone are one of the hardest to keep.. But if you got it back from white to having some color in it that in itself is freaken awesome

does its foot attatch? In my experience, sebaes never have a strong foot, so you never see them grab onto anything and close up.

got a huge foot, it is unattachable lol
i tried to remove it from the stone when i moved to the bigger tank.... i gave up at the end and had to place that huge rock it was sitting on somewhere else.
this is actually the first one that i manage to keep alive...

ehem, white although cool looking practically means death, white in anemones=bad, and balling up, is not really anything to hopefor, it should be open like it is now

I TO HAVE THE WHITE SEBAE ANEMONE AND IT WAS WHITE WITH THE PURPAL TIPS, AND NOW IS A TAN COLOR. SO IF IS SOLD AS A WHITE SEBAE, WOULD IT NOT BE REASONABLE TO THINK THAT IT IS TO STAY WHITE. AND THAT NOT ALL WHITE ANEMONES ARE DYING? I TOO WHOULD LIKE TO KNOW. IS THIS NORMAL FOR THIS SPECIES OF ANEMONE?

NO any anemopne that is white unless it is solely predatory, and doesnot rely on zoxanthellae, should be white, this means any hosting anemone that is white is either dying or is going to die soon, no sebaes should be white, the purple is not zoxanthellae so therefore the tentacles should always have purple tips. So please remember keep your anemones nice and brown!

i'm still a bit confushed. i looked at the white sebae that are offered for sell here and they look to be white and purpul tips. the ones at the LFS ALSO ARE WHITER AND THRIVING BUT WITHIN A MONTH OR SO OF PURCHASING THEY TURN MORE AND MORE TAN AND THE TENTACALS NOT AS LONG AND THE PURPUL TIPS FADING TO BROWN. :notsure:

IMO the Brown color is from the alage in the sabe. you will find them white in stores beacause this alage dosen't survive the shipping process. If the brown color dosn't return your ananome will likely die beacause it uses this as a primary part of its diet.
