I heard that if you have a MATED PAIR of Coral Banded Shrimp, they produce enough planton for any size tank! Is this True??
Does a Mated Pair of Coral Banded Shrimp REALLY produce Planton??
If so, would it be enough for a 72 gallon bowfront tank and the corals in it??
Can some please shine some light on this!

I've never heard that before... and I'm not sure I'd be too ready to believe it either. Get some more opinions though.

Sounds like a fish story to me. Think about it. Two shrimp able to produce enough plankton for ANY SIZE tank? I guess the ocean only needs two shrimp.
I know mated coral banded shrimp will have babies, but damn, that's a lot of babies a lot of times to produce enough to feed an entire aquarium.

the "any size tank" part is not true
yes, if they are a mated pair, they will produce their planktonic larvae on a regular basis, and will supply a lot of plankton for a while
I dont know what size tank it would feed... dont think anyone would know.
if you watch them just after your lights go out, and you know their mating schedule, watch them at night with the lights off... they will release clouds of "plankton"... but I know if you have fish they will also gobble this up in seconds..

Some other shrimp like the peppermints will release eggs every few weeks. That is just something I consider icing on the cake, and I actively feed my corals reguardless.

So a mated pair of coral banded shrimp do produce Plankton!? WOW!
So it would be a good idea to purchase a pair!
