Tank is 10 days old. Cycled with dead shrimp. 15Lbs Marshall Island LR (fully cured), 35Lbs seed rock. 20Lbs LS, 40Lbs Aragonite sand. 90 gallons. Have a VERY little bit of diatoms directly under the light strip. Sand is still white.
Readings:
Ammonia-0.0
NitrItes-0.0
NitrAtes-20
pH-8.0
SG-1.024
I was expecting a 4 week cycle and all happened in 10 days?? I had a small spike after the shrimp completely rotted away. trites spiked for a day and trates was off the charts two days ago. Now they have dropped on their own to 20. I don't have a LFS that can test water for me so I have to trust my test kits. Amm, trites and pH is Aquarium Pharm and trates is Salifert so I'm pretty sure the readings are accurate.
Anyone have any ideas/info on a very fast cycling tank?

I probably would wait another week and test the water daily to see. By getting fully cured live rock and LS would help. :happyfish

why test daily? Why not just test again in a week?
Check the date on your test kit, if it's expired, you could get bad results. but lr and ls could have sped things up a bit.
I'd still wait a week or two to make sure.

I'll wait it out another week just to be sure. I have been testing every other day or so just to keep up with the cycle. Any other ideas are welcome.
Thanks Mikeyjer and Sinner's Girl for the response!!!

I have spoken to several people who had a tank that cycled in under two weeks because of cured live rock, live sand, and a shrimp.

Airforce, although the tank MAY be cycled it still needs another 2 weeks IMO. It would crash very easy. Add fish very slowly 1-2 weeks inbetween and of course more live rock. What is your turnover rate? Well, anyway, sounds like you are well on your way and I hope all comes out well. Some pics. will be accepted. Ha!

Of course it would probably be best to wait a little longer just to be safe, but it does not suprise me that your tank cycled as quick as it appears. I was actually more suprised when I came to this site and saw that most people were taking over a month. My tank cycled in under two weeks. There are so many parameters that can affect this. I had a lot of live sand and only a little live rock and I did not add any shrimp. I guess there was enough die off on the rocks and enough bacteria in the sand for my tank to cycle. Good luck with you tank...

Thanks for all the opinions!!
I am adding another 30lbs of rock after the cycle is completely done. I didn't want to kill off the sensitive HH with the ammonia of the cycle.
I currently have 13x turnover rate. I'm getting 2 MJ1200s and a 900gph closed loop system in a week.
I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
Thanks again!!
