Here is what I'd like to have for my little underwater family:
Yellow Tang
Royal Gramma
Hippo Tang
Percula Clownfish (2)
Lawnmower Blenny
Along with 50lbs. LR and a very DSB.
Any suggestions?

I would say no, but be prepared to get drilled for having two tangs in a 55 gallon tank. It would be fine if there small, but they grow rather quicky and need more space than a 55 gallon to swim.

I would tend to say no on two tangs in a 55 also.
One or the other might be okay. Just drop one tang, the rest look great! Nice choices.
....MCF
ps. plan on having to get a bigger tank if the tang out grows the 55. FYI.

I have been blasted for this in the past, but I have 2 tangs in my 55. A small hippo and a kole. At some point, however, I will be upgrading. My hippo hasn't grown extremely quickly...I'd say you'd have AT LEAST a year before you'd have to upgrade.

Yellow tangs grow pretty darn quick though, a friend of mine had to move his out of his 55 after only 8 months because it got too big, and it started out about the size of a silver dollar or a little bigger maybe.
Just be prepared.....thats all.......MCF
Hippos are cool, just waiting for a bigger tank so I can get one.

IMO, I'd stay away from Yellow Tangs no matter what size the tank is. They are mean little/big SOB's!! Mine was pulling the antennae from my cleaner shrimp and eating them like spaghetti! Just a matter of time until they turn. And I wouldn't trust them with corals either...if you ever decide to go that way. My Hippo and Kole are awesome! They don't bother anybody or anything...AND...the Kole helps with the algea...what more could you ask for?

myyellow tang did the exact same thing to my cleaner! i think he eventually killed him beacuse i haven't seen the shrimp in months.
i have a hippo amd a yellow in a 55gal also. i've had the yellow for about 3 years and the hippo for about 10mos. they do grow fast and i'm in need of an upgrade. If you don;t want to upgrade to a larger tank eventually then i would say just get one tang. I wish i got a purple tang instead of the yellow. just my opinion

I would say if you have enough LR for both animals to get away from each other and you keep an algae clip in the tank two tangs are OK for a 55.
Teh Dwarf Angel is a good idea anyway. Heck get two - bicolor and a flame. They'll chase each other daily.

Thanks all for the advice!
I don't think I'll get the Yellow Tang from the sounds of it.
I forgot to mention that in the future I will be getting some Anemones, Polyps and Shrooms. Will the Bicolor Angel harass with these?

I have a 55 gallon as well. 60lbs of liverockMy critters include:
3 spotted cardinals
1 lawnmower blennie
1 firefish gobie
1 Hippo tang (still a baby)
1 sea urchin
hermit crabs and snails
I am thinking about adding a flame angel or a coral beauty.
And hopefully a clownfish. What does everyone think about my space. Can I add 1, 2 or no more fish.

definitelt too much
esp when you consider how big the tangs get
size alone(not factoring in habits and needs fo the tang) they are 20 inches of fish alone
