Anthelia sp. grows from a mat, Xenia sp. grows from a stalk.

I would say a polyp, not a kenya tree at least not the kinds that ive seen.

+1
Xenia does seem to start like that, but does not branch until much larger. Kenya trees are nubby and not just a stalk and a head. Maybe a clove polyp...keep us posted as it grows out.

Hey thanks! It would have taken me a while to come to any of those conclusions.
It does not attempt to pulse. It seems almost stiff or prickly. I havnt touched it, just looks that way.
Is there anything I can do do ensure it grows?
Sadly, when the tank appears to be in a mini cycle now.
as of last night
Ammonia.... .25
Nitrates....... 20ppm
Niterites..... 0ppm
PH..... 8.2
temp 79.9
sal 1.025
I'm not too happy with these readings and the amount of coral on this LR. No Buano.
Thanks again everyone

Kenya trees are bad??
NOOOO...they just spread a lot and grow all over the place...so I pull them out and toss them in the refugium and my pencil urchin eats them LOL

I think he was trying to offer a sign to tell the difference between the two if it was one of them...which this coral is obviously forming a stalk and not a mat.

Oh.. I'll tell you what I think if you cared..
I think it doesn't look like any of the corals mentioned (Kenya, Xenia, or Anthelia).

I have Kenya under pc's, T5's and Metal halides.....so I do not think lighting is an issue with these beasts
