Congrat's Nicky, welcome to the TT addiction! Its simply "madness"! That race in particular has a whole culture behind it too, tons of racers sell everything to rent a flat there the up to a year before the race. Gather all together and go around the island on scooters just memorizing everything about it for months on end.
There was a pretty scary quote from that japanese guy who won a few classes in the race back to back. Something like to win the tt "you had to push the first few laps like you thought death was inevitable, hope everyone else would be to sane to keep that pace up, and than back off just enough so that death wasn't inevitable... just likely". Than he died
I have no desire to push the envelope enough to win it, but before I'm 30, one of my goals is to race the mountain course (reputedly the most dangerous race in the world) and pull a fairly decent time while surviving! I'm just not quite insane enough to race along cliffs, in heavy fog, WAY faster than I can see, hoping I memorized the track enough to not fly off-down-and into the ocean to have a chance at winning it. Or atleast, I tell myself that now ;) Jscarb2 is right though, the side car stuff is absolutely insane! I couldn't convince msyelf to try that!
Hey Nicky-Jscarb2, if either of you are interested you're more than welcome to borrow that documentary "faster".
