I had to take down my reef to catch a tang with ich and I cant get the rock to look as good as it did before. What I've done so far looks pretty good, but I keep telling myself "if I move this one a little to the left and this one a little to the right......." I'm driving myself and my wife nuts. Someone tell me to stop!!!!! :(

My older brother got into saltwater shortly after I got my tank - he cannot leave his rocks alone. I swear he has his hands in there everyday trying to get the "look" he is looking for. Some of his formations are unstable and he gets all pissed when they topple over - then he is in there trying to get them "just right" again. To me and everybody else it always looks pretty much the same. Poor fish. Good thing he doesn't read this board!

I know exactly what you mean. It took forever to get my lr wall looking descent! IMO, it still needs adjustment here and there, but I try not to mess with it. One thing I've learned though, everytime I have added a few big pieces, it seems to look alot better than it did before. Good luck!

I think everyone has gone through this.
I went through it for about a year and a half.
What if I moved this rock here and....?
Finnaly I decided to leave things alone.
I did it for the tanks sake. Think about the stress you put on your fish and everything in it when you do this? Everytime you move a rock, you disturb things in your tank and risk of hurting it in some way.
Something to think about! ;) IMO

i did this the other day, then got pissed and left it alone. then i found i was satisfied with it. now i gotta move some again to get to some mushrooms that won't stay where i put them  , so it's a never ending battle i guess!

Same thing happened to me today. I came home from work, poured a drink and sat back to look at the tank. Im satisfied with it now, still doesnt look as good as before, but it looks good. Hope to get some pics together soon so I can post and get some outside opinions. Thanks for the responses. :p

Been there, done that.
Way to many times.
It never looks right if you can't get it exactly the way it was. And I'm never going to get it close enough to the way it was to feel like its right. Until of course I give up and get use to the small differences which will then be the perfect steup to try achieving for next time.

It is nice to know that I am not the only one to suffer through this frustration!! Hang in there guys and gals, one of these days the rocks will be completely covered in beautiful, thriving corals, or algae, it will depend on how well we keep up with it!!

TO STACK A REEF IS THE MOST STRESSFUL THING
TO ENJOY IT WHEN IT IS DONE IS BLISS
