OK guys, still do not have this beast running. Waiting for my southdown sand. Anyhow, I use city water, and filled the aquarium with it. Used some tetra brand de-cholorinator that is supposed to be safe for saltwater, and let it run, well then I went and got a bucket of instant ocean. Added the salt,The next morning i have white powdery stuff everywhere! I used instant ocean and the decholrinator in the 10 gallon with no such powder. Anyone have any ideas? I am assuming it is a calcium chloride precipitate. Still do not have a test kit, or lights or sand or rock, as I am waiting on the lights and sand. Like I said I am trying to do all of this from online sources, so stuff should be arriving anyday now, and just wanted to have it running so i could order my live rock right away before it go too cold to ship it up here to Minnesota!
