Itchy Angel

My Koran started rubbing against the sand yesterday, he's not doing it constantly but fairly often and there are no spots yet. The nitrate had sky rocketed somehow so I did a 50% water change, the readings are now sg 1.021, pH 8.0, Amm. 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate is down to 20ppm, still a little high. Do I need to place the angel in a q-tank and treat with cooper or is it too soon for that? If I do the q-tank what should I keep cooper levels at? LFS told me 20-30ppm?? Also is there anything further I can do for my main tank...another water change later in the week??
Thx...Keith

For right now, I would offer your fish garlic soaked food. But, be prepared to move your fish to a hospital tank if this ends up being an ick outbreak.
I would not recommend copper for ick. Yes, copper will treat ick effectively, but hypsalinity will threat ick just as well, without exposing your fish to the toxicity of copper.

Thanks Beth...I hate to sound like a dummy but is there a liquid form of garlic I can buy in the grocery store?

Yes, garlic extract from health food store. The usually come in capsels that you can break open and the garlic in ligquid form is inside.
READ THE LABEL of anything you buy. There should not be anything else in the ingredients but garlic or garlic extract. Sometimes, in the grocery store you can also find garlic juice, or even bottled garlic. Again, make sure that whatever you buy, it is garlic an garlic only. No additives, salt, etc.
