My lionfish still has a strange jaw disorder. he is very healthy and has no weight loss showing. for two months now when he goes to eat most of the time he wips his jaws open real hard and his mouth gets stuck open and he just coughs the food back out and he has a hard time closing it. sometimes he is fine. nothing visable in his mouth that looks wrong, gills are healthy looking and everything else. what the hell is wrong with him???

i am no saltwater fish expert, or no lionfish expert. But i am an avid fisherman. I know that trout or bass will sometimes swim around with their mouth open when they are perticularly looking for food. How wide open is it? It wouldnt realy matter to me because i probably cant help you, but someone else might see this and know. I would think if hes not loosing wiehgt he should be doing pretty well though.
sorry i couldnt provide any ACTUALE advice. Sorry. But i would like to wish you luck.

thanks- he only has it get stuck open and messed up when he tried to eat something. if he injured it somehow i would have thought by now it would have fixed itself. its like he dislocated his jaw or something. i feed him small pieces of food so its not from that...
