It's my turn with ich

I don't know is it ich or not. I have seen ich before, and the white spots seem to be a bit larger than the ones on my fish. They're very small, you cannot see it if you don't really take a good look at it. However I still think it's ich.
So far my fish is ok. He scratches himself to the rocks sometimes. He goes to the cleaner shrimp regularly, everyday. They seem to get along a lot better than before. Another treatment is garlic. I started feeding him garlic soaked brine shrimp. He seems to like it now. He's eating fine.
Anyone has any other suggestion? No q tank available.

Sebae, I set my q tank up today for my ich problem and I used Frank Marini's advise on it so I could get the fist in there in the next 2 -4 days. check my ich post, thats where he gave me instructions. sorry to hear yours did turn out to be ich, but your story was going exactly like mine. Also, the white spots my fish now have are very tiny and on their fins, hard to see. I got a 20 gal starter pak at PetSmart, about $80 total spent to set it up. I mean check my q tank set up post.

Thanks DBA for the advise. I'm not planning to setup a q tank because it'll be like having another tank in my room. Anyway, I'll try to kill this ich with the combination of garlic and cleaner shrimp. It's not that bad yet, but if it gets worse, I'll try the medication that Marini told you about.

that's what I'm currently doing until q tank is ready. come on little shrimpies clean clean clean! Keep me posted on how effective it is. Mine already seem better and now that the q tank is up I'm already wishing I had it hidden somewhere else. - :) Debi

Hospital tanks do not have to be a permanent setup. You can just set them up when you need them.
What medication are you using while waiting for the hospital tank to be setup, and why wait? Just setup and use it...

Beth, I actually have a question about q tank. I always thought you're supposed to cycle a q tank. If you say that I can set it up when I need it, that mean I don't need to cycle it, is that right?
Why not set it up a q tank right now, is because I don't have the money :D , and the room for it. I have the heater, and the oxygen pump thing. But nothing else, no power head, and filter. What else do you need anyway? I know I don't need gravel, what about that PVC pipe thing, or something like that?
Unlike Mr. Tang, I can only fit one ten gal tank in my room :D . If I put another one, I won't have a bed to sleep. And I'm not allowed to put any tank outside my room :D .
So far I haven't used any medication yet for ich. My fish is doing fine. He's eating the garlic food, and no, he doesn't spit it out like before :D . And he still goes to cleaner shrimp regularly, and the spots are dissapearing. The white spots on the head and on the fin, are gone. I just checked and I saw no signs of ich anymore. I'm stil going to feed it garlic soaked though.
Thanks,

Ahhh I see. I thought q tank and h tank are the same. Now I understand, thanks. Great, as soon as I get my paycheck I'll setup one :D . Just have to think where to put it.
