Golf. I went a bought a pair of shoes to go with my clubs. that makes it official. I love this game. The sedate pace while being a real challenge is exciting in a weird way. I have upgraded drivers and fairway woods a couple times, and am really starting to just plain out enjoy the heck right out of the game.
my fiancee says its a sign I am getting old.
any other golf addicts oput there?

ME!ME!ME! Ive been playing since the age of 10.I bought a brand new set of Big Berthas for $250 a few years back and i love them.Im still in search of a driver for me though. The only one ive found so far is my Cobra knock off.Its not the club head but the low torque shaft i need because of the head speed i generate.I have a Ti Bubble II in my bag that i almost have to try every round just once lol .I need to take it out.

I was very active in the 90's and basically lived on the course after work and sometimes even before work. when the club was started they first had 9 holes only so my parents bought all of us kids and themselves shares at the course. We could play as much as we wanted for free (annual membership fee to keep the share active). I loved it and it turned into a real addiction. In Finland the season is really short so we'd spend the winter months in a golf simulator.

Junkie right here...my license plate is H8BOGEZ.
I have 2 kids under 3, so I only have about 15 rounds in this year. Get a subscription to Golf Magazine or Golf Digest there are some great tips you can pick up while sitting on the throne reading.

about 20 over par on average. I just started playing about a month ago and have played 3 full rounds so far. and 2 9 hole rounds. and gone to the driving range about 6 times. I have noticed signifigant improvement in the last 18 holes I played. getting a lot more straight long drives, and more accuracy on my chip shots onto the greens.
I started with a $15 yard sale wilson set that looked like they had been hitting rocks with the Irons. I have been scouting all the goodwill and salvation army stores for newer clubs and picked up a taylor made burner plus 1 wood with a 9.5 loft for $20 then a dunlop STA oversized driver for $1.99 one of my buddies gave me a cactus mastertrack 5 wood, and an affinity megalaunch (walmart driver)
he also gave me (so far my favorite club) that he didnt like, an orlimar trimetal 15degree. I love this club.

I have even gone so far as to take 180grit sand paper and smooth the faces to knock down ridges and clean up the face of the clubs, all my clubs look barely used now instead of hard used. I spent almost 2 hours the other day resurfacing them, and cleaning grit out of the lines.

oh yeah my shoes, I just picked up a pair of etonic golf shoes for $1.99 at the hands of hope thrift store. I like etonic shoes, I have had other shoes made by them and they have all been very comfortable so I'm hoping these will be as good as the others they make.

I hate golf. I think that it is one of the most idiotic games ever..........lol. I know it involves skill to hit the little ball in the hole. But it's like hit the ball and walk...............hit the ball and walk. I just don't see the point. How can you call that a sport?? It's not even athletic.

I plan to play a lot of miniature golf next season to tighten up my short game.

If you can 2 putt instead of 3 putt on every hole you knock 18 strokes off your score. When i was told that and started to seriously work on my short game ,i went from the 80's to 70's.

The golf fees are going to cut into your aquarium budget. But you won't be playing year round if you live in Maine.

that is very true. but I have about a dozen hobbies and they all kind of compete for the same funding, I am pretty good at managing them. also at this point my SW hobby almost pays for itself. (at least I keep telling myself that)
as for playing year round there is a couple golf simulators, in the mini mall nearby so i can play once in a while to keep from getting totally rusty.
