Do you know the story behind the phrase "It's raining cats and dogs"?
The phrase "raining cats and dogs" originated in 17th Century England. During heavy rain, many of these animals drowned and heavy rain would carry along their dead bodies.
That was really tragic

It was also because years ago homes were roofed with thatch, which many animals, dogs and cats included, would sleep in since it was warm and dry. If there was a heavy enough rain and the animals didnt leave the thatch they could fall through the roof and land inside the building.
