i used copper for about 1month and a half and i just bought some copper remover called cuprisorb copper/heavy metals and my lfs said that in about 2 between 3 weeks there wont be anymore copper.
i was just wondering if this was true. and if i could keep an anemone after all that.

i have t5 and PC lighting on my 30gal a total watt of 100 watts
i think my lighting will barley be enough but the anemone i want will ether be a seabae or long tentacle.
but anyway will it work?

where does the copper go?
according to SeaChem...
CupriSorb™ is a narrow spectrum, synthetic adsorbent based filter material for removing copper and heavy metals from either freshwater or marine water. It extracts all types of copper, including chelated copper, and remains effective until it turns a deep blue-black color. It may be regenerated repeatedly. If placed in continuous service, it will gradually extract even precipitated copper and make invertebrate culture possible in tanks previously heavily treated with copper. CupriSorb™ is a powerful copper specific chelating resin.
that being said, i still just can't bring myself to trust it. as far as im concerned... once you put copper in the display you have a fish only tank. copper is a very nasty chemical when it comes to our precious inverts even in the lowest of levels. it can absorb into the silicon, rock, sand...etc, and leech out later. obviously you can give it a try, but i would try with an invert cheaper than a anemone like snails and crabs then work your way up to shrimp and the like.

Did you use the copper in the display tank???
no

i know what copper does.
its in a tank in my garage, i used it to cure my fish from ich and other outside parasites. it did a wonderful job.
what if i took the sand and rocks out and let the water cycle for about 2 or 3 weeks then add new sand and rocks. its going to be expensive -_____- but i will do it.

you will be better off to tear it down and start with new water. Use copersorb
in you filter as to get as much water flow through it. You will need some acid from the swimming pool store to wash the copersorb about once a week. use 2 parts fresh water to 1 part acid. let it sit for 1 hour then rent it with baking soda and water till you no longer see any fizzing. Replace back into the filter and start over. (I don't remember the kind of acid, but i think it was murick.) I was able to keep inverts and coral but it is a gamble. I even had a fire shrimp live through the whole copper treatment as I couldn't catch him. He became bleached out But after a few molts got his color back. ONE TOUGH DUDE.

why didnt my LFS say all this!
they told me its easy to remove.
this is so annoying
copper is an evil product!!!
i was hoping to get an anemone in there so i could get a better chance to mate up a black perc and a false perc. i guess ill add them to my display tank.

but i have never been able to keep an anemone alive for more than a week so ill just try my luck with coral.
