Iwaki Water Pumps (heat-noise???)

I am considering buying an Iwaki (American) water pump w/a 4' head rating of 1000 - 1250 gph. But I have heard that the Iwaki's are fairly loud and run hot - I know the Japanese models are quieter and cooler but I don't want to pay that much for a pump. The tank/sump is in the living room so noise is an issue.
I looked into the Quiet One but it's too small of a pump.
Anyone have any experience w/ the Iwaki's?? If so, what model and what are your thoughts on the noise and heat. Thanks!

Iwaki is my favorite pump. They are quiet, have a fan built in so they run cool, and they are really strong pumps. The Iwaki 55 RLT is rated at about 1100gph, and the 70 RLT is rated at 1500gph. These pumps can run dry for hours with little or no damage.

I have an iwaki and love it. It is very powerful a little noisey but absolutely cool.

Thanks for the posts. I have decided to bite the bullet and buy an Iwaki w/ a Japanese motor. I'll post a reply and let you know how it turns out.

I am looking for a very quiet pump just to run my UV, and, of course I want one that runs cooler and low energy too.
Suggestions?

You don't need a really strong pump for running a UV. Just get a strong power head, like 200-300gph. The longer the water stays in the chamber, the better it can sterilize the water. Slower is better in a UV.
