I have 2 double hoods (Perfecto...not the best, but hey) which support I think 40w, basically I just got these hoods & don't wanna put out more money for more hoods. I just recieved my VHO (75w) bulbs. My question is there any way to take advantage of the hardware store & 'do-it-myself' work on these current hoods to support the VHO??? If so could you please tell me step by step what I need, I can figure out once I get the equiptment what to do. I was & still confused about NO, VHO, Ballast Kits/System & the hoods that support them.

I would think that the VHO's would melt the plastic that those hoods are made of. I would either look into a DIY canopy or a DIY light box. Not really difficult.

don't forget, you need a vho ballast to run those lights to their fullest. a n.o. ballast will run them, but just as an expensive normal light. you need the ballast! also, you're better off buying, or building a hood for the vho. the cheap hood you have now probly will melt.
