I do a google image search for a blue jawfish and this is one of the results. I really like the way it looks. Can someone provide me with the latin name please?

And will this be like the other jawfish that were recomended to me that will do fine in my tank?

Scientific name was in the url;
OPISTOGNATHUS ROSENBLATTI
As far as your other question, depends. All Blue Spotted Jawfish that are sold in the hobby come from the Baja region of Mexico. There, in the Sea of Cortez, the water is far more chilly, then the tropical regions most of the fish we keep come from. Personally, I don't like seeing BSJ's in tanks with temps over 72 °F. However there are some success stories out there in BSJ's in more standard temperature tanks.

When i do a google image search of the latin name, fish with far more yellow appear. and the blue dots are more pronouced. Is that due to the lighting that this picture was taken under? The site that lists temps with fish has the temp range from 72-78 and my tank sits at 77-78.

Depending on your lighting, the blue will be more pronounced. I think this also has to do with the age of the fish (AquaKnight, please correct me if I'm wrong). I kept on for over 3 years and the blue became more pronounced with age. It was never a jumper so I tried my luck with it in an open top and of course, it became a jumper and went floor surfing while I was away on vacation. They have a yellow head and slowly tapers into a blue color as you go back towards the tail. The blue spots are really cool looking, it looks like little gems on the fish.

k thanks. doubt the $90 pricetag will make my wife go for it though. Looks like the ricorda (spel?) is how she will be getting her blue into the tank.

Just wait on it. The "doctors" put them on sale quite regularly, especially in the spring/summer. The most I've ever paid for one is $60.
