JBJ Lighting Experience?

My local LFS, who really seems to have a clue, is recommending a JBJ Formosa 4X65PC for my 75 bowfront. My research shows that it may be a good fit for my tank and my short to midrange reef goals.
Does anybody have any experience with JBJ products?

Hi,
I have had my formosa for almost a year.. no problems at all. It runs very well, the fans are fairly quiet and the lights come on first time every time.
Good product, I would recommend retro fitting if at all possible.. That is what I would do if I had it to do over though.

Hi,
I had one for my 75. I liked it for 6 Mo. Then it went all to he--. One switch worked, but 1 didn't. I gave it away. Cost me over $400.00 at the time I got it too. Now the person I gave it to, is having a prob. with the other switch. I hope no one has had this prob. but I would be surprised if I was the only one.

I have had my JBJ lights for about 5 months. I love them and so do my corals. The only problem I have ever had was one of the fans started hanging up, but a good vaccuming cured that. I know that in this area, the lights are backed strongly by the stores that sell them and if you have any problems they will make it right. The day I bought mine, a man brought in a strip he had for almost a year. The store replaced it no questions asked.

I have the formosa over my 35g hex and I've had a couple of problems. One of my switch keeps on going on and off, but seems to be ok right now and one of the fan got stuck before. Do a search on the internet and you can find 48" 110w PC for glass hoods for about $125. Get two of them for your tank and you'll have 220w for $250. Not a bad deal.
Email me if you know where to get them.

Thanks for your input. It's the "real world experiences" that make this a great forum. Nothing beats experience!

I have a problem with one of mine a dual 55 watt model. I also have another, but it is a formosa deluxe (?) no problem with it yet. The deluxe, however is 50% wider than the model with probs. Everyb inch conts in lightimg any reef, imo. :(
Very bright lights tho.
