I have a command center timer from coralife. It has everything color coded. Yellow runs the daylight, grey the moonlights, and blue the actinic.
One timer runs the daylight (yellow). The timer on the other side runs the grey (moonlights) and Blue (actinic)...when the blue is on, the grey is off, if the grey is on, all other lights are off.
So I set my timer to turn on my actinic 20 minutes before full MH lighting comes on, this gives my fish time to adjust to the light (less spooking). These also are set to go off 20 minutes after the MH shuts down. Then when all is timed to go off, my moonlights come on and stay on until the actinic is scheduled to come on again. It also has a master shut off button for emergencies.
The unit cost me around $50.00...shop around, I have found I am not very frugal and pay more than I should for many things, like salt.
I am attaching some pictures. First one is a close up of the timer. The second one shows some of the color coded outlets (the unused ones) and the last is of the entire unit.
You can do any combonation you want. The above is just my way.

The problem is that the JBJ nanocubes use one plug for both the moonlights and regular lamps.
I used to have a website where I documented a mod for it. My site is broken at the moment, but I may get it fixed in the near future and be able to point you in that direction.
If you're good with electricity, it's not a hard thing to do. Basically you need to add a second power cord to the ballast enclosure that controls the transformer that powers the moonlights and the fans, and leave the ballast connected to the main cord.
In the end, you'll need to leave the moonlights running 24/7 and time the main lights.
