JBJ Nano Cube 24g Problem. Need Help Badly!!!

Does anyone own a newer model of the JBJ nanocube 24? Cause I’m having a problem. As you might know the tank's hood has 2 power chords for the lights, one for the compacts and one for the "nite VU" LEDs. Unfortunately they both run to the same ballast which only has one power chord thus making timer/timers for a day setting and night setting absolutely pointless considering the ballast controls both systems. Does anyone know what will work other then a new hood, I can't afford that? I can't seem to find a simple device that would simply allow me to switch the LED chord to a new "power chord/ballast" allowing me to buy a new timer for the night lights. Can I simply buy replacement ballast and hook up one of the chords to that so I have two chords going to their own ballast? Please help it's making me go crazy.

If you can help me I deeply appreciate it. Being a college student I cant manually turn the lights on and off when they need to be manually everyday because I have such a crazy schedule.
Thanks!

wish i could help more, but i think replaceing the hood or ballest is your only option
Im sure you can just get after market light for good price. All depending on how much you wanna spend and what kind of corals you wanna keep.

Re: your lites; do both cords run into a control box leaving you (1) cord for power? That is the way mine is set up and I run that cord into a digital timer that is plugged into a GFCI cord. It works perfectly. As for the nite lites; after timer shuts off for the nite, I hit the on/off switch which puts the tanks lighting into manual mode. Hence running the nite lites. However, rarely do I use them. Maybe when company is over or staying up late. If u need a pic of the timer; purchased at the Depot, I will provide.

Yeah it's exactly the same set up, but I like to leave my lites on at night. The tank is in my bedroom so it provides a really nice nite-lite lol. I'm thinking about calling JBJ tomorrow to see what they think. I've already got a timer so we'll see what happens.
