Yes I've had one for about a year...AWESOME..It will take a little fabricating on your part to get everything to fit but you can't beat the performance for the price..

I recently added a Jebo 520 to my 75 gal reef. This is my first skimmer so I'm a little unclear as to how the skimmer should be setup and adjusted.
My skimmer is outside of my sump, sitting on a stand, and connected to the included AP5200 pump for now. I've added a ball valve to the output tube to control water level. The skimmer has been running for about 2 wks and I'm still getting wet foam/dark green water in the collection cup instead of the dry foam I would expect.
I have 8 fish and a few soft-corals. I've had a fuge full of macro from day 1 and I do water changes monthly. Amm, Nitrite, Nitrate, and PO are undetectable. The tank has been up and running for 2+ years, successfully, with no skimmer.
Is it possible that the bio-load in my system is too light to produce the dark foam that others seem to get with more expensive skimmers?
Is there a particular setup process I need to go thru for adjusting the water level and air level for optimum skimming efficiency?
Thanks in advance!

i saw this skimmer at some member and for the price it's good skimmer and make the job the problem with jebo are the pump after time they get noise but you can change it. some ppl complain about leak between the connected pieces but i think that maybe it's was a damage unit. if you want dry skimming so you need to reduce the water level in the skimmer wet skimming you adjust the water more high.but bottom line this skimmer work i saw some like this other site with good feedback.

:help:
I'm curious as to how you set it up initially? I'm more then a little confused since the included instructions were not very good.
Did you use the AP 5200 pump which came with the skimmer or did you use something else? If you used the included pump, did you add a valve between pump and skimmer to adjust water pressure going into the skimmer?
Did you add a valve to the skimmer output plumbing for water level adjustment?
Are you using the included air-valve?
I'm running mine with no valve between pump and skimmer and a ball valve on the output side for water level adjustments. I've tried running with and w/o the air-valve and cannot find a happy medium between no-foam and wet, green tea-colored water.

My setup was skimmer-less for 2+ yrs with no prob. All of my water parms have been good... Amm, Nitrite, Nitrate, Pho all 0, so I don't think I really need the skimmer in my lightly loaded system. I normally like to live life by the, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", motto but considering the price for this skimmer/pump combo, thought it might be cheap insurance.
This is the first skimmer that I've ever tried to dial in I may be doing it all wrong. If there are any tips/tricks that you are willing share on your setup, i'm interested.
TIA!

yes i use the pump its a great quite pump actually!, i have no valves to adjust the pressure or water etc.
i have tried to use the air valve and it didnt really do anyhing the key to this skimmer to skim how you like it is to adjust the heigt of the skimmer. I have my skimmer elevated about 3-4 inches, once i found the right height to run the skimmer it skims prefectly and pulls out ALOT of junk. Also i tried both wet and dry skimming and i prefer the wet skim method , it pulls out alot more junk alot quicker . Basically the bubbles are crazy in the top of the middle tube which then leaches out and leaves you discusting water in the collection cup and alot of thick buildup in the inner wall in the middle tube of the collection unit(which is easy to clean)
any other questions feel free to ask!!

Thx for the quick response....
Here is a pic of my setup, which may or not be similar to yours. My skimmer is on a small stand outside the sump. The stand was necessary b/c raising of the output pipe resulted in the collection cup overflowing. :(
Do you have pic of yours that you can share for comparisons? Is it an in-sump configuration or an external setup, similar to mine.
As far as your water-level is concerned, when I ran mine this high and simulated a power outage, when power is restored, the skimmer initially pushes enough water into the collection cup to overflow it. Does your's behave similarly?

hey my setup is pretty much exact to yours. except my skimmer is elevated alot higher than yours int he air.. you pretty much have to play with it to make sure you get the right levels, as far as the overflow when power is resotred i never have had that problem but thats not the skimmer thats has to do with your siphon not breaking when the tank shuts off. i would think that your water is still bieng sucked into the skimmer so when it starts back up then it has too much water int here to start with so thats the problem their..which iw ould think would be broken by the air tube coming outof the skimmer but im not sure? i also think that by elevating the skimmer is would also cause the water level in the skimmer to stay evan with the water level in your sump.
if you still need pics lemme know ill snap some and let you see my setup!!

hey also i just remembered that once you get the protein skimmer started if your not getting bubbles or foam all the way to the top of the collection cup you need to take some of your water and fill it up to about the bottom to middle of the collection cup so that the water level stays at a proper height...evaporation takes alot of water out of the skimmer and it wont skim all thew way to the top "sometimes" everytime i shut mine off for cleaning i have to fill it to the right place then its fine

The pump that comes with this Jebo 520 protain skimmer is compatible for external systems without the sump?? My tank only has a external filter, and I'm wondering to connect this skimer externally, is it possible? Comparing this skimmer with the DYMAX VS-10 skimmer, witch is the best?
