Gazetteer Western Atlantic: North Carolina, USA and Bermuda to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean to southeastern Brazil. Eastern Atlantic: Ascension and St. Helena (Ref. 4450). Mid- and eastern Atlantic islands (Ref. 26938).
Morphology: Moderate-size moray with a pattern of distinct small, round, overlapping dark brownish to purplish-black spots on white or pale yellow background (Ref. 26938).
Biology: A benthic and solitary species (Ref. 26340) abundant in shallow rocky and grassy areas and on coral reefs; less common in turbid bays or harbors. It's bite is very dangerous (Ref. 5217). Active during the day, sometimes together with other predators. Feeds on fish and crustaceans (Ref. 42064). Marketed fresh and salted (Ref. 5217). Usually seen with its head protruding from a hole and the rest of its body concealed (Ref. 26938). Has been traded as aquarium fish at Ceará, Brazil (Ref. 49392).

Jeweled Eel - Muraena lentiginosa
Also known as: Spotted Jewels Eel
Maximum Size: the Muraena lentiginosa grows up to 60 inches.
General Size Specifications: This eel will come small 6 - 9 inches; the medium generally 10 - 13 inches; The Large 14 - 17 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Jeweled Eel prefers a tank of at least 200 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Muraena lentiginosa is a carnivore and likes to eat meaty treats (like live feeder, fiddler crabs, small fish & grass shrimp).
Level of Care: The Jeweled Eel is a low maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Jeweled Eel may act aggressively toward other fish.
Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
Range: Central America.

ive had mine for about 2 years. he or she is about 19 inches long and lives with a 25 inch snowflake eel and 3 inch picasso trigger. eats shrimp and silversides. never bothers the trigger. the trigger will even steal the food right out of the eels mouth.
