Here is my 20Gallon tall tank. Started for about 3months now. I want to give credit to the original post
with the 10g DIY tank. I did a search but can't find it.

Here it is. Let me know if something I should watch out for.
Thank you all.

Hey Ray,
I am thinking to do exactly what you did. Take out my medias and sponges then replace it with LR/LS. Since I've read from here that nano balls and media creates a lot of nitrates.

Matt,
Really new at this. Is a Mini Fuge just another small tank with LS/LR and corals for filtration? kind of a newbie on this.
Thanks.

317- I do have two filter pads in my tank. I replace, not wash them, once a week. One is folded in half and sits between the fuge and return pump wall. The second, as you can see, sits above the cheato. It is a two part pad (two layers) however I seperate the layers. I do this for ample light on the chaeto and two make the filter last a bit longer. The ONLY reason I use them is to keep the detrius/food waste from getting in my chaeto and LR/LS.
Also, it is a VERY controversial topic when it comes to bioballs. However, if properly maintained they are not "nitrate factories". I think this is a very commonly misunderstood concept. Nitrates are produced regardless. And the fact that bioballs have such a great surface area makes them quite well at 'creating' them. You would rather have nitrates than ammonia or trites. They have a lot of surface area and can be home to a large amount of beneficial bacteria. Any system will have high nitrates IMO if not properly cared for. They do a great job at what they are designed to do which is to convert ammonia to trites and finally to trates. Me, however, chose the more natural way with my setup, but to each his(her) own!
