Josiah's biocube 14 thread

Well my son is five and while I cant justify another tank for myself in these tuff economic times with my wife I can build one, for educational purposes of course, for my son. the biocube is stock (and going to stay that way I think) sans bioballs and pump prefilter pad. stock cartridge is in for now but it will go shortly. I'll run GFO in one of the chambers. I'll look into a saphire skimmer when they become available for the B14. I have a few ideas as far as stock. I want a either a jawfish or shrimp goby/pistol and he wants clowns of course so that will be the fish stock. Corals will be whatevers donated from my tank and I'm not sure if I want to get fancy with ricordias, blasto, acans or just go cheap and colorful. 13lbs of cured liverock, florida live sand and koralia 1. changes have been made to the 30g but I'll save that for another time.
march 25th

today (april 3rd) awaiting CUC. note the make shift pseudo borrow I attempted to make bottom left center. hopefully the jawfish or shrimp/goby will take to it and not the back of the tank.

Nice. Which jawfish are you considering?
not sure yet. from what I've been reading the yellowhead is most appropriate for this size tank. I'm leaning towards shrimp goby due to the amount of sand I have and I like that there are species that stay really small.

really nice tank man! and the rock work and small cave is badass!
but question dont jawfish need sand to make holes?

ah we have live stock! I'll admitt the clowns were one of those spur of the moment purchases. the yellow fins are what did it for me
they are aquacultured black and white saddle clowns. probably pushing it for a 14g when they grow but it is what it is (I can always swap them with my false perc in the main tank). still will eventually go for a shrimp goby but I'll be focusing on corals for a while. Moved the top pieces of rock back as they were blocking too much light. Added a clean up crew (4 astrea and 5 cerith. I always go conservative on CUCs). Added a few frags from my main tank for good measure. did 1rst water change (how easy with 10g of total volume)!
the saddle clowns

a few "test" frags (did I mention these corals look 1000x better under 20k halides)

and since I dont feel like updating the 30g thread new full tank shots after aquascaping (also posted in the reef section)

thanks!
well today I gutted the biocube filter cartridge and installed Pura padding in the frame I've had good success with their Phoslock GFO so I knew I wanted to try out the filter pad (its sort of like a chemi pure multi media in pad form).

please please! let me know how that filtration works our for your biocube i been meaning to do the samething. i love the candycane in your cube they look awesome.
