Very sad when a state gets shot down for trying to enact a law because the Federal government won't enforce their own.

Equally as sad when 70% or so of the state supports it, and the opinion of one person overrules it. Despite the legality of the bill..

I think people in Az should refuse to present ID to the cops if asked. According to the judges ruling you don't have to present papers if asked

After reading the story one thing stands out. If the cops determine someone is in the country illegally they can arrest them. The judge made it harder because the cops can't hold them while they investigate. I seriously doubt this will shut down enforcement like the Mexicans celebrating in their own country assume. Just the threat of this law drove a lot of people out of Az. as long as it is up in the air California and Nevada are gonna be "hosting" our little friends from the south.

I would say its more like 70% of the country, not just the state of Arizona.

I'm sure we'll see a spike in crime here in Colorado too. All these people who had to pick up and leave Az will need to make some quick money somehow.
I have a video of a guy picking up a truck load of illegals at Home Depot and dropping them off at an INS office. Funniest thing I've ever seen. Might have to try it.

Thats great! Too bad the INS guys probably just gave them lunch and sent them on their way.

I see a serious precedent issue here... this whole thing seems to demonstrate that whenever the federal government finds it politically advantageous to promote lawlessness, all they need to do is pass a federal law and decline to enforce it. If a state tries to pass legislation to protect itself from ... whatever .. the fed can override it.
I don't see this as an immigration issue, I see it as a 10th amendment issue.
When you look at how more and more instances of the DOJ just refusing to enforce laws, it makes for a dangerous combination.

Well, it is a very dangerous ruling as well-for ALOT of other important basic laws. For instance, if I embezzle money and I don't get prosecuted by the Feds, I can now claim the state law is over-reaching into federal jurisdiction. If I am caught hauling drugs, I can claim Arizona law is encroaching on Federal jurisdiction. Obama's quest to garner illegal immigrant votes is going to flood the federal courts with what should have been simple state criminal prosecutions. The basis of the lawsuit and ruling is that states cannot usurp federal laws. That is a can of worms that any good defense lawyer is going to use to delay and obstruct alot of state prosecutions.

They made me show ID when buying a gun, that IS a Constitutionally gauranteed freedom. So, by this Activist Judge's thinking I no longer have to show ID or be fingerprinted to own a gun as that is a burden to me and the gov't.

I'm sure that the supreme court ruling will fix things and also "fix" the judge..

The right to bare arms is an interesting constitutional right...we have the right to bare arms so that we can protect ourselves and our families, and yet my buddy in Cali said that he has to wait 2 weeks before he gets his gun he just paid for....and he works in the corrections department and has a license/training for several weapons. I guess we have a right, but apparently government can add fine print to any of our rights :)
Illegal search and seizure? Ok...lets write the PATRIOT ACT....
Sick of it...
sorry....

The judges ruling bring up an interesting point. She said immigrants don't have to have their green card or whatever with them. That is a federal law that they do have to have them at all times. How do they resolve that one?

lol it is amazing how many of the media types are saying how, neutral and non-political she is. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the twilight zone reading and watching this stuff.
