Hey all,
I just bought an Emperor 400 to use on my 29gal QT tank. I've read that I can run a filter on an established tank for a week to get the beneficial bacteria that I need.
1) Can I put the Emperor on my established 90 gal reef for a week without worries, and then transfer it to my 29gal qt?
2) Can there be any harm to the 90gal inhabitants by doing this?
My initial thoughts are to do this, and also take water from the 90 gal upon the next water change, and fill the rest of the QT with new (mixed) water. By doing this, I hope to skip the cycle.
Does this sound plausible?? My main concern is not endangering the main tank.
