Junky Skimmer

I own a SeaClone Skimmer. Damn! This thing rarely ever collects anything; my nitrate levels are up, so i know it should be getting some business. Are there any modifications I can make to this hunk of dung to make it work, or should i just scrap it & get a new one? If so, does anyone have any suggestions for a brand? I have a 90 gallon FO tank.

Having high nitrate levels do not mean automatic increased skimming activity. I use a seaclone as well and it works great. More than half a cup every week.
Double check your installation. Seaclone provides a troubleshooting document along with the skimmer. The instructions are also available on their web site.

I keep my ph 8.2-8.4 and both of my skimmers have to be cleaned everyother day. Does your skimmer have an adjustment for the air intake? maybe you have to open the valve some more.

In my opinion I would toss the seaclone and buy a Berlin or a Turbo floater.
