I have a basic 29 gallon set up that is on the downside of the staring the tank up cycle.
I was wondering what people would suggest that i put in there.
I don't have the means for live rock yet, so i just have a single florecent light, basic filter and heater. I am going to up grade to a UV as soon as i can get the money.
I have a perc clown, yellow tail damsel, four stipe damsel in it right now.
I want to add a flame angel, coral branded shrimp, cleaner shrip, 20 hermit crabs, red general star (although i think it will be too big) or choclate chip star.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for fish to add, I want to run a commpletely non aggersive tank.
I have some dead rock on order and will cut the cellpore that i have in the middle of the tank right now so that it is half of the size it is now.
I have included a pic.
Any suggestions will be apprecriated.

A friend has a 29 gallon and has a pseudochromis bi-color, six-line wrasse, 2 perculas, damsel, coral banded and chocolate chip. All are doing well. First Pseudochromis bi-color committed suicide by jumping to his death so with the second one he covered up the back. He's looking at getting an angel. His nitrates are extremely low but he's waiting to see. He's close to maxing out if not there already.

My plan is to put in the inverts and let them clean up all of the brown algea that has grown in my tank and allow a month or so after i have finished cycling to add any more fish.
Also what is needed to set up a FOWLR set up.
Any special lights.
Any special filters.
Any other things i need to know about FOWLR.
My favorite picture from my tank so far.

is this your first SW tank? i wouldnt get the CCstar cuz it isnt reef safe and will eat everything. flame angel is hard to raise unles you got good water quality. i woould try and find a few pieces of LR and through it in the to help cycle it.

Well my first cycle will be over this friday.
I plan on adding about 10 or 15 hermit crabs.
Also what do i need to add live rock.
My LFS (Fin-attics in Galesburg, IL) says that i need to buy some new lights and that it would run about 100 dollars.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what i need for live rock.
Also how many of the crabs will a starfish eat.
I have heard that the starfish will eat inverts, but how many will it eat, and will it eat cleaner shrimp, and coral branded shrimp.

Just added a purple lobster.
Very pretty.
I also added 12 blue hermit crabs.
Will it eat the hermits.
Also does anyone know about how long the Purple lobster live, what they eat, and how much hidding place do they need.

you might want to keep an eye on that lobster, it might kill your fish and eat it. Lobsters usually need hiding spots from what i heard. It doesnt look like you have that many places to hide from what i see. Lobsters generally eat meaty foods like mysis shrimp. You might even try pieces of shrimp.
I personally dont think a UV is really a nessary thing and i would rather spend that money towards live rock and possibily changing your substrate with live sand. I dont know if you have a protein skimmer but i would recommend you get that also.
I would also buy things slowly and would get information on things before getting it. Generally, you cant trust the local fish store sometimes. They usually give you bad advice. Keep an eye on that lobster, good luck
