i have a 10 gal SW with some LR. it has an over the side filter and i was thinking about getting a powerhead... i want to have both a lil reef and a couple fish nothing crazy just something nice to start out with for a first time'r
so my question it will i need a powerhead to keep reef life in my tank?
will it disturb my fish?
what size would work best?
what else should i look into for this type of setup?
thanks

You definitely want a powerhead. You have to have circulation throughout the tank. No... it won't bother your fish at all,as long as you don't blast them across the tank.
For a 10 gallon 2 Percs would be the Max. along with a good cleanup crew. PC lighting would be best.:D

I had a Rio 50 power head on a nano reef and it worked great. Enough water movement without bothering the fish. Also if you are planing to put coral in your tank you should upgrade your lights. There are many retro kits to upgrade what the tank brings from factory stock. Good luck.
