i just added my first fish to my 20 gallon :cheer.... a striped damsel hes been in their for almost 24 hours and he comes out a lot but has never crossed over the the other side of my tank (except for food.. which he eats really quick!) i was wondeirng if anyoe has ever had any experience with this fish and if they have exhibited the same behavior. the next and probably last inhabitants would be 2 false perculas and maybe eventually way later on a cc star. any advice is appreciated or tips is appreciated!
i would post a pic but i couldnt figure out how to!

hey, i have a 3 stripe damsel. i had him for about 4 weeks, he seems to be the only thing in my tank that stayed alive. the way i shrink my images down, i have a thing called hp image zone editor. it allows you to down size the image. but try to find something that u can use on ur computer to shrink the pics down

Right click on the picture and selest Open with > Paint
When it opens in paint click File-Save as JPEG
This will reduce the file size greatly and you will be able to post it :)
To post a pic on here just click on the Manage Attachments button under Additional Options - Attach Files
hope this helps

congrats on your first fish!! I have a 3 stripe damsel. He's in with a lion, rabbitfish, and trigger (in a 55g). He's the most aggressive fish out of all of them! lol I really enjoy him. He attacks the shovel whenever I'm trying to move something around. He's just fearless. He makes a noise that I haven't figured out if its coming from his mouth or the way he makes the water swish. He's a neat fish. Hope you enjoy yours! :joy:

I have a 3 striped damsel in my 44 gallon fish & invert. tank and he is the most aggressive fish I have, too. If I have anything in the water he will attack it, and he'll chase everyone around just for the heck of it. When he gets mad his first stripe turns a light grey color until he calms down again. I have a pair of percs, too, and they just seem to ignore him for the most part and do their own thing. I used to have a chocolate chip starfish and I had to sell him because he was eating all my turbo snails. He LOVED them. Other than that he was great. Good luck!

Im starting to worry about him b/c he never comes out he barely comes out for food... luckily with the filter circulation... it floats or sinks the food right donw to his"area" he used to swim around most of the tank but know you have to wait like 30 mins just for him to poke his head out!
jw if anyone had any tips?? :help:

I had the same "problem" believe it or not with my 55. My chromises would stay behind the rocks almost all day for the first few days. After a week he was absolutely perfect. I think that getting him a friend would be a great idea. My false perc was "lonely" and when i got another and the bag was temperature acclimating they were swimming by eachother. haha it was so cool. I say go with one more and give it a week. If no improvement, maybe check it out. but thats still a maybe.
