Just Begining Need Pointers!!

Hi Everybody,
I will be getting a 55 gallon soon and need all the pointers i can get. I have never had a tank this size or a coral before. What are the steps i should take from point A to B? What are all the steps needed before i can start adding fish? How many and what kind would you recommend in a 55? And most of all, what all do i need to get set up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Welcome to the boards!
Step 1. Read a lot.. this is a great hobby, but you need to understand the variables. The current book of choice is "A Conscientous Marine Aquarist" by Fenner.
Step 2. Take everything your local pet store tells you with a grain of salt.
Step 3. Be very patient, do a search on this board for "cycling" your tank.

If I remember right at the top of the main page is a post about how to set up a tank and some good instructions. But I do agree with 1Journey do a search for cycle (search is at the top right of this page) Also do a search for "Southdown" and "Vinegar" I know sounds stupid but it will lead you to some good threads that talk about the right type of sand to put in your tank. Do not go with Crushed Coral.
