So, i just bought a few things.
75g tank
Glass holes 700 overflow kit
Typhoon III RODI unit with extra filters, pressure guage, ball valves, float valve and tank.
Octopus Diablo XS160 protein skimmer
I have about $500 left to play with and was wondering what it might be best spent on. Aside from a custom stand. Not much money for lights. Im going to use an old halide kit for the time being.
I was thinking of a couple of things. Either an automatic neck cleaner and skimmate locker for my new skimmer OR perhaps an octopus calcium reactor for a 125g with some media, a co2 tank and regulator. I dunno. Maybe an mp40. I just dont know. Lol.

Lol save it for a rainy day :)
im glad your doing the 75g tank...i think you will be very happy with that size for a reef!

I think so too. Its not too big, not too small. Easy access to everything. It can fit in the space i have for it. The maintenance and upkeep isnt going to be too much. Perfect size for what i want to do. The 110g tank i have is going to be sold this Sunday with any luck. The 240g tank was sold.
I have to move my little 20g tank tomorrow afternoon. over the course of the next week i have to build not only my new stand but also a canopy for a 135g that i just got paid to do. Im excited about that.
I think the stand i want to build will be fully loaded with all the features that i can build for other people. Hopefully i will be able to get it all done and set up and looking halfway decent for my house warmin party at the beginning of next month. :)

I given the choice would go with the calcium reactor. the bane of my existence is maintaining calcium and alk while only being able to do 30% waterchanges.

WOW, great news! Came into a little windfall?? Couldn't have happened to a better guy IMO.
I can't wait to see your stand build...hope you trick it out.
As for the lights...may I say that you have more than enough for a pair of LED chinese lights...enough to cover two lights and have some $$ left over to play with...

I just don't know about those chinese LED lights... Are they dimmable?? I'm just concerned about color and ability to keep SPS corals.

Seth, I don't know if you spotted it but I threw up a mini-review of the chinese light fixture over in the DIY/Lighting thread. You can take a good close look at it over there.

So, i got in my 75g today. I also had my overflow sitting on my porch when i got home today. :)
Cant wait until my skimmer arrives. :)

So i am going to brace up my old stand and put a back on it and not worry with building a new stand. But it will be ok. Ill just have to adapt.

HAHAHA, no.
I have to wait for a few things to die down before I can get the time to upload some pictures. We just moved this week and my homework just got bumped up twice as much because of the five day vacation last week. (H. Issac and labor day) so my professors are really upping the work load on us. I have an English paper due tonight and I am just now typing it. Just took a break to get online for a few minutes to clear my head.
