I have finally purchase a hammer coral that I have had my eye on for quite some time! I did my research on it, but I always like to hear personal experiences on here! Is there any do's and don'ts with my new coral? It is my first real expensive peice, and I just want to make sure it remains happy! :flamed:

Kept them fed with what? I feed all my coral DT's Live Marine Phytoplankton twice a week. Is there something else I should be feeding?

Cool, I will do that! How do u feed it then? I have a turkey baster thing that I can use to put it diectly into the hammer, but is there a better way? I also have a frogspawn, should I do that with him as well?

I squirt mysis shrimp towards its tentacles when I'm feeding my fish and it will usually grab a few pieces and eat.

I poured mysis in the direction of him today so I think he got some. As I was watching the food flow around the tank I realized that some even floats by and touches him just in the natural flow of the tank, so I think he gets some that was anyways.
Does anybody know if it is normal for hammers to not have that solid bright green color throughout? He was like this in the pet store, and they had him for 2 months before I got him, and he looked heathy at all times, so I assume this is normal, but thought I would ask anyways!

Yes, it's a different variation, and usually the multi colored ones are worth more money. I have a frogspawn that does this. Sometimes they're referred to as "Aussie" hammer, etc, but this isn't really true unless you know where it was collected from.

Very nice. They're nice pieces. Usually each head produces a different color, but sometimes there is variation in the color within each head.
